National Disaster Management School

The national disaster management school was founded on July 16, 2017, under the initial name of the Disaster Management Training School. Since August 25th, 2017, it has been deployed in its current location, which is held by the Nepal trust. On January 19, 2022, the disaster management training school was officially renamed as the National Disaster Management School (NDMS). Since then, the school has been conducting several tactical level disaster management related trainings and some special trainings to its troops. The NDMS is situated in Gokarneshor Municipality-4 Gokarna,Bagmati Province, Kathmandu District. The school is situated in Gokarneshor Raj Nikunja, a stunning area, surrounded by greenery.

Roles and responsibilities

As a training institution, our primary role is to offer disaster management training. Nonetheless, we also offer military personnel specialized training in disaster management methods, such as medical triage, firefighting, search, and rescue operations, etc. Conversely, the NDMS creates extensive training programs that address a variety of disaster management subjects, including mitigation, readiness, response, and recovery. They also make sure that the programs are in line with military standards and doctrines.

In addition to providing military troops with up-to-date, high-quality training, NDMS trains trained instructors with specialized knowledge in disaster management Additionally, to develop response capability in disaster response operations, NDMS facilitates joint training exercises and partnerships with national stakeholders, foreign military forces and international organizations as policy underlined by Army Headquarter in order to enhance the knowledge on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) and strengthening military to military relation with the friendly armies.

Courses/Training Activities

The National Disaster Management School provides a wide variety of trainingsfor military personnel. The key trainings we have been conducting so far are firefighting, Officer/JCO/NCO MFR/CSSR, Special Equipment Refresher and Maintenance Training, Swift Water Search and Rescue, Basic Scuba Diving, Air Rescue, Tactical Level Search and Rescue, Field Engineer Bridge, Camp Coordination and Camp Management, Tree Trimming and Safety Training.
